I'll probably buy the hardcover edition of "Akira". I hope that the whole series will be published in hardcover.

Personally, I wouldn't consider buying this unless I had some sort of confirmation that the whole series was going to be released in Hard cover.
As long as its uncertain, I wouldn't want 1 Hardcover on my shelf beside the softcovers.

That's a good point. However, the size of the manga will also have an impact on my buying decissions (although I suppose that the chances of them releasing it in a big format are equal to zero).

I hope they do release the whole series, because they did such a great job with the first volume of Akira. The paper quality was exellent and the ink made the art look great.

Hellsing hardcover? yay
Darkhorse went pretty fast with the Hellsing manga, 5 volumes pretty much within a 1 year period. wonder what will happen when they put out volume 6 in english while the japanese volume 7 still isnt out. will they wait for that to come out or start compiling all the chapters from Young King OURS themselves for a release.

True, I wouldn't want one hard cover while the rest are softcover.

They still got a bunch Berserk to released, so they're in no hurry to sale hellsng manga.
I'm not sure about doubledipping for Trigun hard cover.

I'd like the Akira hardcovers with full color to be re-released myself.

What exacally was the situation with the color. Did Epic/Marvel's licence run out, or did DH just buy it from them? In any case I still like the original black and white better. The color was good, but the technical drawings looked better in BaW. I can't name too many mangas that I like the color (Junko Mizuno's color stuff looks great though).

Marvel has the rights to the color versions, but they didn't pursue them.

I think the colorization of the entire manga was just Marvel's addition, whereas the actual manga was black/white except for the color plates in some volumes. SInce I'm a purist, I prefer the black/white. Now, if only DH would adopt the unflipped format...
