I didn't think much of it at all. The music sounded over-produced;there weren't any songs I heard on the album that actually appealed on the first listen--probably not a good thing if you're aiming to convince people to give you a try. And of course, the lyrics were OTT and over-emphasising her ethnicity. She was trying to experiment too much and ended up with a mess of an album that lacked focus and more importantly, hits. Oh well, Exodus has sunk without a trace in the US anyway.....sold something like 10,000 copies so far?

Not even close. More like double that. Nice try anyway.

16K so far. 6000 isn't that far off, and in terms of music sales, it's very little.

I didn't see much fanfare / hype about her or the album in mtv.....and that would've been the best place to bring up its sales.....with all those kiddies eating up their hilary duffs and ashlee simpsons............

I'm still having a very hard time swalloing stuff like Easy Breezy. She's really sold herself out in this album, I think.

While 16k isn't a lot of sales, I think it's still enough for her record company to keep her around for at least one more go. Two CDs I picked up a few weeks ago *combined* sold just over 4,000 copies, and they're at least a little more mainstream than jpop.

I'm really skeptical about that. The company shelled out a lot of money (at least a million, maybe multi-million, can't remember) for just a one-album contract. If the CD doesn't pick up some momentum, I can't see them recouping their losses.

Copying and pasting my comment from animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9539&start=0

The whole cd is a major letdown for me.

I think there was only one song I liked the melody too, and everything else melody and lyric wise was just painful and not really good enough for me to try and commit to memory. I do remember one song being about her meeting up with a "dirty blonde texan" and then there was another song that again repeated the whole "I'm Japanese, you're caucasian, let's get it on" thing. I couldn't wait to buy the cd before and support her American release, but now I don't know since if I do buy the cd, I know I'll never listen to it.

I hate the cd. It's the biggest piece of crap I've ever heard come from Hikki.

hikki's album was a major disappointment.. only a couple of her songs were good.. some were just plain awful... her japanese songs makes more sense to me than her english ones.... its just seems lyk she made a really bad start for her english debut... the songs there that were actually pretty gud are easy breezy, animato, devil inside, and exodus '04. The other's just doesn't make any sense at all. Hopefully, her second english album(if ever there is one), will be much better..

Agreed. I bought the new album today as I was inspired by listening to Hikki's "Distance" album. In a word, ugh. In two words, not good.

Hello. I like Utada but her Exodus album was a bit disappointment to me. Because I'm getting used with her Japanese music and I only found one or two songs in this album that quite enjoyable. Hope the next album will be better. Sad

considering that exodus is doing so poorly here, mebbe hikki should make english versions of some of her popular japanese works. i liked exodus well enough, but it's because of her japanese work that i bought the album in the first place. she was promoted really badly. island def jam did squat.
