Sooo my buddy is telling me that the wonderful Wendee Lee is going to be at a local convention tomorrow. I'd really like to meet her and definitely get an autograph, but he's saying I should get her to sign my Haruhi Blu-ray box. I mean, if I still had my DVD set, I'd have her sign it without a second thought. Those cost me under $100...this set was almost four times that lol. So what would you guys do in this situation? Sign or no sign?

The BD box has the English dub as far as I know, so why not?
I mean, the only question you need to ask yourself is "Do I want Wendee Lee's signature on my Haruhi BD box or not".
I don't really see the point in asking for outside opinions.

I'm a fan asking for a other fans opinions. What's so wrong with that? I'm a fan of her work. I wouldn't be asking this if I wasn't. I've never had any of my collectibles signed (especially expensive ones!) Would a signature like hers have an effect on resale value? I'm looking for opinions of people that have.
It's really frustrating that I can't ask an honest question or give advice on a topic without hearing snark from someone...

Man, I'm jealous - I'd love to meet Wendee Lee and get her to autograph something. The fact you are going to a con tomorrow makes the fact that I accidentally PMed you (instead of Hentai_JP) about a con I'm going to tomorrow even funnier.
Hellz yeah, I'd get her to sign that or anything else. Whether it affects the re-sale value, I don't know. Personally, if I get a VA to sign a copy of one of my DVDs, that means I'll probably never want to to sell it. As a prospective buyer of a used set, I'm not sure I'd pay extra for an autographed copy because I'd always wonder if the autograph was legit or not.

I was also debating that about the authenticity. I figured if I got a picture of her holding it everything would be legit
Ha ha man when I saw that message I was like "Is he going to!?" lol. I hope you reach him in time.
I'm super excited to meet her. I may have to work though so it might not work out. If I do I'll have to check and see if she will be showing up on Saturday as well.
EDIT: Looks like she will only be there Saturday. Yess this works

Oh, okay. So this is about getting a signature and then selling it on ebay.
My mistake for thinking it was about a fan treasuring an autograph of a voice actor.
I'm sorry for not having a more positive attitude at the start of this thread. It made no sense to me to have this question, as it merely depends on whether you want the autograph or not. However, I had not given thought that the set would just be sold.
I'll keep in mind next time to prioritize $$$$ over sentimental value.

Never said I was planning on selling. Why would I? It means a lot to me. There are a lot of things to consider and resale value is one of them. Maybe you should get your Hong Kong anime signed by your favorite voice actor from that series. You seem to take much pride in it.
EDIT: Ya everyone, the REAL fan that posted above me has figured me out. I'm totally going to pop my favorite collectible up on eBay next week for $750 because I'm a greedy bastard...

I'm not really a fan of the Animax dub of Nodame, but if Ayako Kawasumi or Tomokazu Seki were guests at a con I attend, then I surely would request that they autograph it. They were just perfect as Nodame and Chiaki
It's not like a Region 3 legit release is somehow worse than a Region 1, 2, or 4 legit release.

Nice reply. Maybe next time someone is honestly on the fence about something you can give them some positive input like that instead of shitting on them. Thanks.

My main rule for autographs is, make sure the person in question actually worked on the item in question. I've seen people bring manga volumes for anime directors to sign, for example... it's a nice enough gesture, but that guy had no hand in the manga version. So, if the BD has her voice acting on it, it's fine.
Now personally, I never get boxes signed... too much potential for wear/damage on the exposed box, y'know? I tend to go for disc covers, were it'll be safely tucked behing the protective plastic of the case. That way if it gets scuffed, the ink's intact and I just buy a new case.
As for 'proof' of legit signatures (either for a future sale or just skeptic friends), I really don't think the market for VA signatures is big enough for fakes to be around. I always take a photo anyway, just as an added momento. My advice- take a snapshot as she's signing. Too many people at autograph sessions I've been to want to run around the table, pose with the guest, take 2-3 shots, chat for awhile... and in an hour long autograph session that's going to kill about half a dozen people's chances to get their signature. Don't be that guy. Besides, your con (like mine) might even ban photos outside of the snapshot for that reason.
