I always like Something Positive, but I kinda thought this one was somewhat worth posting here, thanks to it's content.

And please, don't get the idea that Randy (the artist) has anything against anime fans in general...

People just need to lighten up a bit. Don't take it too seriously when they're on the forum.

I think people have a right to get emotional about an artform. If people are willing to pay 300k for a painting. I think some poeple should definately be able to tell them its assinine. but at the same time people line up around the block too see it. it's just paint and paper the same is true for anime. or sci fi Some people will always say star wars fans are retards and repessed homos. Some will always say youd have to have a head injury to enjoy dragonball or jackson pollack paintings(dropcloths).
Good art evokes emotion weather it be love disgust or hatred there's an audiance for them all. and this place wouldn't exist if it wasn't for people who had a strong emotional conection to anime(geeks and Snobs).

in short it takes all kinds and a#$holes are poeple too.

I think it would be more realistic if the guy was bashing Dragonball GT for being relatively popular with the unwashed masses who couldn't possibly appreciate the subtleties of two musclebound aliens beating the crap out of each other on all the many levels that the true anime fans do.

It seems that nowadays, one can't enjoy something that some one else doesnt hate, I'm more then positive that there is a fan comic "bashing" just about evrything a person can do. If soemthing like a web comic offends you then you need to either: a) get a sense of humor and be able to see it from another person's point of view, or b) stop reading things that offend you and try to get on with what you enjoy.

I sincerly hope that this doesnt offend anyone. But, it just might... thats the fun thing about the internet, all sorts of freaks come and enjoy being anonymous.

I challenge you to an IRC duel! Laughing

I highly recommend this. There are too many people who take opions as personal attacks, and cannot laugh at anything.

Heh well I guess there is alot of truth to that comic, I don't think its really representative of ANN's Forums, but on alot of smaller boards that aren't as well regulated, things do tend to get a bit out of hand. Some fansubber IRC channels are so bad that I can't even bring myself to visit them anymore. Oh well, everyone has to have a hobby I guess, even if it is just being generally obnoxious. Rolling Eyes

I was thinking around the AS boards, or G4TechTV boards. Rolling Eyes Man those places are bad.

Man, I'd forgotten about that Penny Arcade strip. Yeah, Gabe's view is absolutely correct. The other thing I'm reminded of is Fishbone's seminal album, "Give A Monkey A Brain And He'll Swear He's The Center Of The Universe." Our sense of self-worth tends to get bloated when we can just blather on and on about nothing with no real recourse.
