Well, I know Anime Pavilion is a legit store. I just don't like the attitude of the owner and avoid it myself.

Not particularly, as it's not my place to speak, but I'm on the Anime Convention Mailing List and some of the stances he takes I staunchly disagree with. So I take my stand by not giving him any money, online or at Sakura-Con. The archives are public, if you want to go delving, though.

Well, I was more interested in finding out if by "attitude" you meant something that impacted on Anime Pavilion's business practices, but it doesn't sound like that is the case, so no need for me to dig deeper.

How long did it take for your package to arrive?

The Good: Its a legit shop, they have a store front in northern Virginia that I have been too. They have a good selection and pretty decent prices if you buy a few things at once. They have a nice staff from the few times I have been there, except for one guy, who I guess could be the owner.

The Bad: While I was up there for a bit one time I back ordered something through them wanting to support a local shop(it was also back ordered on amazon and rightstuf), but they lost my order and it took a little bit of wrangle to get everything strait. There website also makes me a little nervous, it feels like you could strait up hack it with a coat hanger.

In Short: If your in Northern Virginia I would suggest stopping by its a nice little store(I wish there was one like it in my town), but ordering anything online/back order might be a little bit of a pain, since there storefront and website seem to be disorganized. They seem to be more focused on cons really.

Like you guys said could happen, it was out of stock despite their website saying they had it.

Next option is from http://www.animedepot.com/ I'd link the specific page for you but the website is that bad. It's $53.98, legit site? I figure I'll probably run into the same problem based on the production value of this site but I'll at least try.

My next acquisition will be the Nausicaä Battleship:

This Gunship was announced on ANN here: animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2010-09-30/miyazaki-supervises-bandai-nausicaa-gunship-model
And it was supervised by the director Miyasaki Hayao himself!! *-* and I will most likely get it here: http://www.cooljapangoods.com/en/nausicaa-of-the-valley-of-the-wind-gunship-xml-463_464_486-988.html since I live in Mexico and that site have good shipping rates for me.

Also, I'll Probably get this Castle in the sky - scale model too:

Ghibli stuff is way too cool!!! =O~~~

@ mubay - wow, that Battleship is unbelievably cool! So cool that I just ordered one from HobbyLink Japan. I did a quick Google search and they seem to be offering the best price, but obviously shipping cost can make a difference.

eta: I had been pondering buying that remastered Macross set but when I put in all my info, I found out it would cost me $42 just in shipping to get it - that's almost as much as the set itself. Anyway, it has certainly given me pause.

I'm considering getting I few things, one being Princess Nine. I'm not huge of watching live sports on television or in person, but I found that I really like watching anime that focuses on sports such as Prince of Tennis, Big Windup, Over Drive, and Eyeshield 21. I think it's because they tend to go over the top. As most of the sports ones I've seen focus on male teams I thought it would be interesting to watch a series where a female team takes the lead.

Next, I was thinking of taking the plunge and try to purchase all of the Ronin Warriors DVDs. This, of course, will probably make my wallet bleed, but I was always more of a Ronin Warriors fan than a Sailor Moon fan and I wonder why I never attempted to add it to my collection before.

The last thing I was thinking of is Here is GreenWood. I've heard great things about this show and since I found it some place for super cheap, I was thinking of picking it up. The art looks nice and the characters sound like they at least would entertain me if the overall story doesn't. Besides, I don't think I can resist a show about an all boys dorm. Wink

If you like sports anime that are over the top, you may be disappointed with Princess Nine. While it certainly goes a little over the top, it's actually pretty down to earth, and focuses more on the idea of building a team and friendships than amping up a new, impossible shot. (I should note that while I'm utter tennis fanatic, I don't like Prince of Tennis because it's lack of any realism and disregard of tennis rules, etiquette, etc.)

That said, Princess Nine is a really great little show, with a throwback style of animation and storytelling that leaves me feeling very nostalgic.

Here is Greenwood is a lot of fun, but keep in mind that there isn't really a plot. It's pretty much a fluffy, slice of life comedy, but I thought it was a riot.

So, it's more along the lines of Big Windup or Moshidora? I'm all for team building if the characters are good. Smile

I think I will give this one a shot. I've recently really been into slice of life type shows and if there's good humor in it, it will probably be a win for me. Thanks, Mylene! Very Happy

Princess Nine was among the very first anime titles I ever saw to completion years ago when a friend who owned all the singles watched them with me. I really enjoyed the show. Considering that Legend of the Overfiend was my very first exposure to anime, Princess Nine was a great antidote. I'd love to own the show, too, but isn't it OOP and hard to get?

That certainly does put your taste of anime in perspective.

As for P9's availability, the box set is mad expensive, but the singles are pretty cheap. I've wanted that show for a long time as well, but it's hard for me to pull the trigger on 6 singles without a box. Although, the box set is one of those stupidly big alphapaks, so it's not like it's much better.

EDIT: Apparently the French version is only 10 Euro, though.

Cheap for you Americans, maybe. Just for laughs, I went on Amazon.com to check prices. Sure, I can pick up vol.1 for $4.99 (the cheapest price from a seller who actually ships way up here to exotic Canada Rolling Eyes ) ...

... but then I get to add a nice $12.49 shipping cost to that. Yeah, suck me.
