Panda-centric?
I wish Flann O'Brien were still alive to savage the writer of that press release for excessive use of jargon, not to mention cliche.

Meh, doesn't sound really all that different from their currently work relationship. I'm guessing Nelvana will be taking care of the TV end while FUNi works the video market.

Wouldn't this be a US cartoon since both companies are located in the US?

No, since they're only 2 of 5 companies involved with the production. There'll likely be a Japanese release before hand and an asian release that they aren't going to be involved in.

What is this unholy union of Nelvana and FUNi? Nothing good can come of it.

Nothing bad has happened yet, FUNi has been doing distros for Nelvana for a while now.

Technically, it's a "North American" cartoon, consider Nelvana is predominately located in Canada.

As Emerje has said, no, because they are merely co-producing it with 3 other Japanese companies. TVbean created the series. North American companies co-producing anime has been going on for quite a while.
