Everyone’s favorite Tall Man will host Cartoon Network’s AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE MARATHON OF HORROR on Halloween night, October 31. Scrimm will do promos and bumpers for a four-hour festival (beginning 11 p.m. Eastern/Pacific time) of episodes of the cult animation sensation. "I’m not playing the Tall Man," Scrimm tells Fango, "but I do wear a black suit and make my patented scary faces."
"I’ve always been a big PHANTASM fan," says Matt Maiellaro (above left, with Scrimm and Pete Smith, head of On-Air for Adult Swim), who created, produces and writes AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE with Dave Willis. Maiellaro, who grew up reading Fango, adds, "We put a lot of bloodletting into AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE and strive to push the envelope of cable TV. I’m a big fan of horror." AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE features an oddball collection of characters like Master Shake (yes, he’s a beverage), Meatwad (a burgerlike blob) and Frylock (cholesterol be damned!) and details their adventures in, uh, hanging out. The AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE marathon will air such freakazoid favorites as "Love Mummy," "Bus of the Undead," "Video Ouija," "Cybernetic Ghost" and "Balloonenstein." For more on AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE, go to www.adultswim.com. New Yorkers, meanwhile, can see Scrimm in person as he hosts his latest horror film, THE OFF SEASON, and the original PHANTASM at the Two Boots Pioneer Theater on Thursday, October 28 starting at 7 p.m. |

I saw the commercial a couple of times already so I already knew, anyway this is still cool. I hope that The Cloning and Broodwich are shown because they are my favorites.

*Psst* When you lift news from another website it's common courtesy to source them with a link.

Who me? If so then I will fix it. I didn't think that I would have to put a link because I was just agreeing that it is cool that there will be a marathon of Aqua Teen Hunger Force on Halloween.

No, of course not you, I'm talking about J-Syxx. Any time you copy a news report it is always a good idea to link back to source.

Oh, sh*t! the "Tall Man" is still alive and kicking?
![]() ![]() coulda been a contenda. ![]() Christopher Lee would be my first pick to host, but needless to say he's probably filming the final installment of the Star Wars prequel. |

Nah man, Phantasm II is one of the coolest movies ever crafted. P3 and PVI though aren't as good, but I still like them quite a bit. Phantasm 5 should coming down the pike sometime in the future too, hopefully with a bigger budget than the miniscule amount Don Coscareli got to make PVI with. |

I hear ya, but i disagree, ![]() As far as i know the sequels didn't really explain the origins of the Tall Man, and Reggie was now the center of the storyline. (as lil' john would say: "WHAT"?!?) There are seuels that somewhat surpass the original. I.E. Empire strikes back,Superman 2,Godfather 2,etc. but IMO this ain't one of them. However if the powers that be were to produce a Phantasm Anime, i would certainly check it out. in the meantime there's always the Movie/DVD. |

I agree, Phantasm may be the best straight horror movie with its sense of surreality and creepiness. However, Phantasm II wasn't supposed to be the same kind of film. Phantasm II is what Evil Dead II is to Evil Dead. More comedy, more action, more zanniness. I apreciate both films very much for what they are. I don't think you can really say one surpasses the other either, since they are completely different. Jamie Lee Gross was brought in because Universial demanded atleast one lead who was part of actor's guild. Mike was like 10 in the first one, so this change might be less noticeable to the audience. Personally I can't imagine a Phantasm movie without Reggie Banister, the middle aged ex-cream vendor, and his quad-barreled shot-gun. he's one of the best parts of the series. Phantasm 4 tried to go back to the surreality of the first one, but budget restrictions lead to some problems. Still pretty cool though for what he had to work with, splicing in deleted scenes from the first movie and what not. Thankfully since Bubbah Hotep brought in a truck-load of cash, maybe he can get a bigger budget this time.
Ughh. Bad reference. |
