Living in the our time we face energy problem.
Which some people seem to care little about, but since this obviously affects all aspect of our life
(usually more on the wallet ^ _ ^)
how about the industry of anime and manga
How does this affect the distribution of anime and manga, into the market?
ps: i hope i dont get any response that say "price increase or such around that"

It is hard to say. But if the prices did go up, i would think it would be a result of people not having the extra money to spend on manga\anime so the companies would have to up the prices of them; but to be honest, i really dont see that happening.

Nah. Humans are very resilient, meaning that we'll just about always find a way to do something more efficiently. It may not be soon, or even in our lifetimes, but I don't think you'll ever have to worry about oil, energy, or whatever it is you think is affecting anime/manga production.
Anime and manga are nothing compared to some of the other fields of work that actually require HUGE amounts of this stuff. If you want to worry about something, worry that the planet will be so overpolluted, that someone might go nuts and pull a Chi no Ryu (that's "Dragons of Earth") on us.
I, on the other hand, won't be putting much thought into this because by the time this even happens, I know I'll be long gone (unless reincarnation actually works ).

Yes humans are resilant but they are rather greedy and rather go solo then give a helping hand. That's for most, but it seems it hasn't affect the anime and manga industry too much, or rather it has not much affect on it.
I dont think reincarnation works, ha ha
yes true we would be dead in like 50-75 years, but imagine how much it would have changed in that much time ne?

I suppose production processes will be different in that span of time, but I just can't see the entire anime/manga industry plummeting like that. I'm sure it will change, but it will probably be for the better.
Another quality humans possess is the desire for improvement, and for a lot of people, I don't think greed can ever overcome that kind of spirit.

Yes, only human has the ability to change anything bigger then ourself, we posses the ability of knowledge, which we can change an outcome by a loss or a victory.

Higher oil prices cause inflation to the whole economy.
I think shipping prices/stamps is going up to make up for the oil price and that can affect business.

I'd like to think that despite what may happen to the worldwide fossil fuel market, we'll simply continue to adapt. If this means all those people with the half-ton SUVs have to give up their gas guzzlers, for a bike and some fresher air... well i'm all for that.
I'd also like to beleive that the people of the world won't stand for the continued carelessness of the automotive, and energy industry. Alot of money has been put into researching alternative fuel sources, and I know that Southern California already has plans for building the first two hydrogen fueling stations. So hopefuly this is a sign of better things to come, for a brighter and cleaner future, for our children and generations to come.
I don't beleive there are any forseable events in the near future that would dramatically slow anime/manga production though.

however generic this may seem, chances are that the prices of anime will go up, but to say that they will skyrocket to unbelievable prices is obviously un reasonable. Also, the notion that we will use new shipping methods to help combat price rises is a bit too farfetched. I think that you're assuming tension in the middle east, with the rest of the world, will last our entire lifetime. I do understand that even beyond the middle east conflict, the world still faces the problems with the finite oil supply but new energy production methods are growing in potential every day. So, expect to pay a dollar more on your anime DVD's

If all you people who said we will adapt to price, the cost of living has been going up for the last few years yet minimium wage is still the same. If the government want us to adapt, they should definitely raise the minium wage up to 7 dollar at the very least.
Because after tax, you're only getting about 5-6 dollar per hour. Thank god I don't make minium wage, but most of my friend do and fulltime college student.

And that's what makes it all pathetic, instead of spending billion$ of out tax dollar$ for some unjustified war, the "GOV" should concentrate more on The Economy and Heatlh care.
That way many more may have the luxury of affording DvDs while being fully functional. (I.E.Healthy and Strong )
Thanks to a caring "Uncle Sammy".

I predict that within 10 years the oil industry will collapse, creating a major energy shortage which will bring down the industrialized world, reverting the whole planet to the middle ages and therefore, worst of all, stopping all production of anime and manga.

The anime and manga industry is rather inimportant compared to other industries in the world which are strictly life or death, and without means world failure.
Technology with is #1 (besides oil) takes the bait on incomes of capital (this include everything from toliet paper production to space station construction)
I really doubt oil gonna last to long now, we're abusing it like crack cocaine, prediction say it's going to last for around 20 more years but i would say around 10 or so now.
