In most Anime's I've seen there is always a wimpy and annoying character in it. Name some that really gets on your nerves. One of mine would have to be Pope Alessandro XVIII from Trinity Blood.

The female teacher in Gosick. I absolutely can’t stand characters that exist just for comic relief.

In that same vein, I thought the teacher from Toaru Majutsu no Index was neigh unbearable. Token lolis have always annoyed me, but the ones who are "actually twenty-something" bother me the most.

Yeah, she's a pretty useless character in that anime..
I SERIOUSLY hate Tsukasa from .hack//sign.
His original concept was a shy, timid boy struggling but was rather portrayed as a whiner and a coward. He can't hold a conversation for 5 minutes without his emotions acting up.
In another sense, Makoto from school days is a character I can't stand.
Do I need to explain why??!

Isaac and Miria in Baccano!
I know they get a fair amount of screen time (about the same as everyone else), but Miria's ultra-squeaky voice and their constant attempts at comic "relief" just got me reaching for the remote.
That, and any Mary Sue a la Ueki Kosuke from the eponymous shonen action anime.

She didn't start out like this, but by the end of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2, Mikuru Asahina was really grating on my nerves. She was always crying, whining, or preparing to cry or whine. Ironically, one of the few times that whole season Mikuru wasn't annoying me was in the last episode when Kyon is thinking she should shut up, after the cat starts talking.

Most of the cast from One Piece, except for Nico Robin. They all just seem to push my tolerance for "idiot hero comedy protagonist" way beyond the breaking point and it doesn't seem to matter what absolutely dumb, idiotic decisions they make because they author will pretty much always be on their side.

Overtly perfect females. I'm looking at u, garbage can full of Clannad, Kanon and AIR dvds.
I love women, but they're still bound to make mistakes like the rest of mankind, you know?
oh, and i caN stand losing you Mikuru, from Haruhi. Your boring and pretty much useless. And i dont ever wanna see u again, and ur fanbase is gunna kill me, and i know it well. I can stand losing u....
U made my eyes roll back, and my brain is torned and its all scratched, i cant see the point in ur existence, coz nobody listens to a word u say.
u can call it lack of intelligence, but to carry on seeing u on screen doesnt make no sense... i can, i can, i can stand losing u...

You have no soul.
As for me, I will always instantly dislike any female character whose sole defining characteristic is being a tsundere. That goes double if she is voiced by Rie Kugimiya, triple if she's always allowed to get away with her BS behavior and quadruple if she's the hero's childhood friend.
Also, whiny teenage mecha pilots who bitch and run away despite ostensibly being members of a military oufit. Though I can at least tolerate them IF they're shown to have justified reasons for their behaviour, like Shinji and Renton for example.
Also, Mikuru can go die in a fire.

Last year I started watching Maison Ikkoku, based on my general like of Rumiko Takahashi's works and it being considered her best by many made me think I'd really like it.
I think I've gotten through about a dozen episodes.
A big reason I haven't finished it is Yotsuya. He is just SUCH an ass, an incomparable sadistic jerk who acts as the lead in the constant persecution of a character who is generally a nice guy, maybe deserving of the occasion teasing, but who really doesn't deserve the constant abuse that is heaped on him. I've read some comments that his actions can be looked on positively as making Yusaku tougher, but the fact remains that whenever he does one of the numerous horrible things he does I wish someone would smack him upside the head with a variety of heavy instruments.
There only other character in Takahashi's works that can inspire this level of malice is Ryuunosuke's father in Urusei Yatsura.
And of course there are plenty of other jerks in Rumiko's works, especially in Urusei Yatsura, Ataru himself a prime example, but eventually she figured out how to temper her jerk characters with a little likability but early on she had an unformulated knack of making them truly hateful beings.

@Spastic Minnow: I found Godai to be a fairly unlikeable character through the first bit of Maison Ikkoku. He tries to steal a kiss from an unconscious Kyoko twice in the first four episodes alone. Creepy. But he grows as a character, as do the neighbors. Though, they don't lose their hard-partying, jerkass tendencies. Give it a few more episodes and see if it grows on you. I think the first dozen episodes only set the stage for the rest of the story. For me, it really took off somewhere in the 20s.
For me, I can't stand Tomo from Azumanga Daioh. I love the series, but her behavior just grates on me. In some sense, I know it's supposed to. But I just don't understand how a person who acts like a complete a-hole, intentionally doing things she knows will anger people, can have any friends, let alone the group that surrounds her.

I've always planned on continuing it, in fact, by the time I dropped it there were some good signs the story would get moving in better directions but it ended up being shunted aside. eventually I'll return to it

How can one not like Isaac and Miria? They were my favourites actually If not the two of them, I think Baccano would turn into a very, very depressing series...
For me it would be Esther from Trinity Blood- apparently she has a more prominent role in the novels, but in the series she is pointless and irritating, her only goal is to interfere when Abel is acting and ruining everything.
Then probably most of the cast from Eden of the East.

Every character from Canaan besides the cab driver. Ugh, they're all so melodramatic, annoying, and flat-chested.
