I really have nothing more to add to this.
"MOTÖRHEAD are among the artists who will be featured on the soundtrack to the upcoming "SpongeBob Squarepants" movie, reports ABC ePrep. THE FLAMING LIPS will provide the disc's first single, a track called "SpongeBob and Patrick Confront the Psychic Wall of Energy", while Lemmy and the boys have re-recorded their song "You Better Run" under the new title "You Better Swim". The album will be released November 9, ten days before the film opens in theaters. "

Anime isn't exclusive to just Japanese animation. In Japan, everything up to Bugs Bunny is considered anime. Hence, Spongebob, if we were living in Japan, would be considered anime.
Plus, we don't have to be taking about anime in this forum. It's a music forum. Not the anime forum.

I'm not suprised, especially after they got Pantera to do a song in the TV show.

But since this is an English-language forum, and since the rest of the website follows the English definition of "anime," it's only a given that we'd be making use of the English-language definition of strictly Japanese animation.
And personally speaking, when I say "anime," I don't want to have to take the extra five to thirty minutes to differentiate between which definition of "anime" I'm using each time the word is uttered.

Music portion of an overall anime forum. The logical connection there is that it pertains to music related to Japanese animation (as well as Japanese pop music, since it ties very closely to anime in most cases). If it were a "general music" forum, I think we'd be seeing more threads about the White Stripes, Evanescence, Weezer, et al. But it's not, so we don't.

So I can't start a thread about whether or not Alan Vega could beat up Yamatsuka Eye? Damn.

1) Anime, in the English language, is not the same as anime in Japanese. We focus specifically on animation made in Japan, or to a lesser extent, Korea. We include news from other sources (Nickelodeon's Cinemanga, or HK film) only rarely, when we personally find it interesting enough to list.
2) This is, as Nagisa said, a music forum on an anime website. As such, we're still expecting sub-forums to be bound by the general rules of the site ("Discussion should be related to anime, anime news, Anime News Network, the forum topic, or in some way relevant to this website. Excessively off-topic ("OT") posts will be locked or deleted."). The forum topic for the music forum is: "...Discussions about Anime Soundtracks and related J Music."
I don't want to get too litiginous about it, but basically, "It's gotta have SOMETHING to do with Japanese music."
Motorhead and Flaming Lips are, AFAIK, not Japanese bands. Ergo, this thread is locked. If I'm mistaken, feel free to PM me about it.
