The following anime may have been the first anime to ever hit the US shores in theators, tv, or in the store.
It is called Shonen Sarutobi Sasuke, released in June 22, 1961 in the US, by Warner Brothers anime#1501 |

I really want to see Magic Boy. Does anyone know where I can (legally) find a copy? Or any of the old Toei films, for that matter.

May? It was... First in theatres and overall. Astro Boy was the first on TV. Home Video didn't exist until the 1980s. So it was never "in stores" back then. I'm pretty sure something else was released on VHS long before this, either one of the streamline titles, or Voltron or Robotech or something... |
