Thats a tough question. Honestly there I think a lot of what makes anime great might be lost in translation. But if the movie had the special effects budget of say... Avatar, then I would love to see an over the top mecha in live action maybe Eureka Seven, BUT ONLY if in this hypothetical they actually manage to do a good job which is next to impossible in reality. There are a lot of shows out there where the ideas would translate fairly well Ghost in the Shell, Kino's Journey. I am certain some Japanese studios have thought of making a live action Cowboy Bebop, it would probably suck but I would definitely watch it just to see how they did

Tell us what you think, first. It's customary to open threads with your own opinions first to get an actual discussion going. Why do you think FB would do well in live-action? And why is Gravitation such a funny idea to you? Do you think shounen-ai is comical? Who would you cast for either of these? How many episodes or movies? Do you think they'd compare well either the anime or manga forms? What would you change, if anything?
Be a little serious and put some thought into your idea, please. Otherwise, no one will show interest.

Arakawa Under The Bridge, I just think it would be funnier to see it acted out by real people. I probably wouldn't even watch it though. I've never watched an anime and thought "how great would this be as a live action movie."

Dragonball Z, obviously. I keep waiting in vain for an Evolution II announcement.

Me and my buddies snuck like five 40s into the theater when we saw Evolution. The kid that ended up kicking us out said we were the oldest people he'd ever tossed out of a show.

i don't think that would go so well.
probably something that was draw with more of a realism look. Probaly agree ghost in the shell would work well. Maybe some mecha stuff. just anything that either wouldn't need cdi or that could be done with a good mix up with traditional special effects. and something with some deepness. How about Armitage? i bet they could pull that off with out it totally sucking. They wouldn't even really have to change the story for a hollywood style film.

Which anime should be made into a live-action movie/drama?
Answer: None
Every single live action I have seen was a fail/epic fail, for a great number of reasons. Visually the closest to being not a diseaster was Death Note, but then the director decided to butcher the script. I am not even mentioning stuff like Blood The Last Vampire (ahahahahah!). Im quite curious about Gantz live action, although I have a very bad feeling about it.
So yeah, I cant eblieve it can be done right.

If done right, I'd love to see a Kamichu adaptation. Not only were the character designs more realistic (of Japanese girls), but the gods were cleverly designed as well.
I wouldn't want to see the same gods either, because I've already seen them. CGI could prove very successful with this one.
I also wouldn't mind seeing how Aria would be done (with new stories, not those we've seen) in a live-action setting. I've a feeling this would be tremendously expensive regardless if it uses set designs or location shoots to film.
Guilty pleasure: Strike Witches (sans the fanservice, obviously) as long as it's not touched by Disney in any way.
Oddly enough, if any of these were made, I'd not buy them and the chances of seeing them in the theater would be zilch.
The idea was nice, though.

I think animation is such a unique art form, that you just can't capture the charm and feel of the original stories and characters with live action. So I think anime should stay anime.

Skip Beat sounds like it would be a good candidate. With all the experiences in the series she goes through I can easily see it done in live action.

The Japanese do fantastic jidaigeki (ie, period dramas) - Akira Kurosawa has bequeathed a fantastic tradition on Japanese film makers. So... I think Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal could make a brilliant live-action film. The script is very cinematic, it's character-driven, and the special effects wouldn't be expensive. The could even remedy what I think is the anime's greatest weakness and replace the ridiculous villains in the final fight with more down-to-earth characters.
