Seriously, I think that you guys would be opposed to Viz teaming up with anyone. ASPCA, Humane Society...PETA, geez people...first you slam YGO for running that no-smoking ad, you slam Viz for pairing up with Dr. Pepper (which the slogan was pretty silly), and now this. I can understand people's obvious dislike for the super extremist PETA-ers...but the "OMG, LET'S BOYCOTT VIZ!" crap is just ridiculous.

Dude, we were boycotting Viz before this even came out...

Does anyone else see the extreme irony in this? Namely, Yugi is called "a role model who sticks up for animals (i.e. Duel Monsters), yet he goes around burning humans?
And dude, having VIZ and not 4Kids sponsor this thing is insane...I mean, has PETA actually SEEN what's IN that manga? Good role model, my random private part.

Even if we look into Yugi character-wise, he's a freakin cheater.

I think this is all hilarious. So I'm not gonna complain.

I'm sorry...I have to.
[!WARNING: Cartoon violence against an animal!]

I saw that on the news a while ago. It was on posters that PETA was handing out to kids.

I haven't seen/read the actual Yu-Gi-Oh!, but I have read spoilers for it so it's hard for me to see PETA and Yugi holding a contest. Neutral

Also, the whole 'your mommy kills bunnies' or whatever PETA had going on makes this even more unbelievable. Neutral

Oh oh....oh, do not...do NOT even get me started and PETA.

PETA is a Hypocritical organization. They even KILL animals themselves, and what do they protest for?

PEOPLE KILLING ANIMALS!

Anyone else here seen a little show on Showtime called Penn & Teller's Bullsh*t?

Yeah, watch the PETA episode, not only do they have LEGITIMATE PROOF that PETA kills animals (They even have a CONFESSION straight from INGRID), they have PROOF that Ingrid supports terrorist actions and such.

By the way, as a Diabetic, I say TEST ON ANIMALS!

Diabetic medicine was discovered by doing testing on dogs, and thanks to those dogs, I can live my life. Sure, I love animals, but lets be realistic here. Oh, and did I mention that one of the high ranking officials of PETA is ALSO diabetic?

Humans NEED to eat. Call it the Food cycle, Natural Selection, or whatever you want. We're the TOP of the food chain. I do not however support needless killing and slaughter of animals (such as hunting for sport). If its not for food, the animal doesn't need to die.

As Maddox so nicely puts it in one of his funny images (and t-shirts) "For Every Animal You Don't Eat, I'll Eat Three".

As for Viz, I think this is the WORST business decision they have EVER made. I do not support it, and I hope it backfires so that they realize such a mistake.

Well I can kinda see where the PETA is coming from and all... but still, in this world, the STRONG SURVIVE and the WEAK must serve the strong or die! Bwuahahahha!

Course now, if those animals are strong, they can overtake the food chain, or fight for their own right...if they are smart enough...

But whatever, man's lived on animals and man gave back to animals, for millions of years. PETA is just a drawn out bucket of morales and hypercrities. Hey! Arent veggies animals too? They have life! We cannot eat or grow them! O_O

PETA is an embaressment to anyone who truly cares about animals, and Yu-Gi-Oh is an embaressment to anyone who likes good anime. They should get along fine. Wink

I doubt the campaign will amount to much, really. Kids usually feel condescended when someone co-opts their favorite character to preach to them (hey, I was laughing at those Gi Joe PSA's when I was eight) and they end up tuning out the message. If it gets a few kids to respect animals though, that'll be great, but I hope none of them are swayed to PETA's more radical (and often ridiculous) views

Not to split hairs, but animals can't overtake the food chain anymore than we can;we're still a part of it, we're just at the top. We didn't get on the top because we were strong or intellgent, we got on top because of dumb luck. We're lucky enough to be omnivorous (IE, we can eat both plants AND meat, making us dominant over both Kingdoms) and we're lucky enough to have evolved brains which made us capeable of building tools that helped us hunt more effectivly than any other animal. Given the right set of circumstances, any other species could have evolved enough to hunt us. Strength has very little to do with it-humans are actually pretty weak creatures, relativly speaking.

<.< why are we protesting Viz? this some excuse to pirate properties they acquired? Meh this sounds like some cheap ploy to me.

I say respect the ideas, not the people. Doesn't matter what it is. If there's aporblem you detest fix it yourself, protesting only delays the inevitable. It also gives reasons for people to fix problems, education is a good thing so for that I enjoy protesting.

I don't see why all the fuss. If you read the release it says VIZ teamed up with http://TeachKind.org, PeTA's educational program. I went to the site and it is just a bunch of free lesson plans and comics for teachers and info on alternatives to dissection. Seems pretty harmless. Certainly there were no pointers on how to wage a violent revolution like some of the previous posts suggest.

Please tell me you're joking because this is the dumbest thing I read all day.

People don't need to eat animals in order to survive. I'm not a vegetarian but I just would like to make a point.
Enough with PETA bashing already. This has nothing to do with anime and I'm curious as to why the moderator hasn't already closed this thread. Someone makes one negative comment about PETA and everyone feels the need to jump on the bandwagon. You make it sound as evil as NRA or FCC Laughing . Sure, it's a radical organization but not everything they do is evil. Reality is many people do needlessly and abuse and killl animals.

PETA hasn't been bashed enough. It's a disgusting organization. It has openly made statements akin to " If all fast food restraunts, suppliers, and banks that funded them blew up tomorrow, the world would be a better place."

Screw PETA. And screw anyone effed up enough to support the psychopaths.

Animal rights are great. Extremism and idiocy are not.
