I want to know what everyone's favorite Insert song is. Not intro or ending, but a song that was just inserted in the anime as a BGM or something.
My two favorites are Ai no Senshi from Sailor Moon. And Senyaichiya from .hack//SIGN.

Holy moly, that's a toughie. There are several I like coming from .hack//SIGN and anything by Yoko Kanno. However, if I were to pick just one...
.hack//SIGN - "Key of the Twilight" - This song is absolutley enthralling with mystery, yet posesses a real sense of ambaince to. I find it a joy to listen to for its vocals alone. It is by far Emily Bindiger's best performance, in my humble opinion.
Yoko Kanno/Wolf's Rain - "Strangers" - Another great song that is highly influenced by Ms. Kanno's ever-so-impressive knowledge of Western music. The rhythm is very relaxing and I especially enjoy the trumpets that accompany the equally skilled vocal performance of Raj Ramayya.
There's just so many to choose from between these 2... .

1. Rain(Cowboy Bebop)- This is the song that got me into anime music. The first time I heard it I fell in love with it. After the song was done playing I couldn't remember the words and I couldn't understand what the words were, even though it was in english. When I was thinking of the melody I would forget it if I thought about something else. I know I really like a song if that happens. Weird, I know .
2. Heaven's Not Enough(Wolf's Rain)- The version heard in the first episode was great. The vocals were beautiful and the music was relaxing, it just sounded very pleasant. The version Steve Conte sings is good too.

Call me, Call me from Cowboy Bebop. Steve Conte does some of his best work in this song and I think it shows.
The vocals are superb, I like the rhythm in the background and it play's at the perfect time in the series *Edward's Departure*
Up there with some of Yoko Kanno and Steve Conte's best.
Probably my favorite song of all time anime or otherwise would be Goodnight Julia from Cowboy Bebop.
The reason I like Jupiter Jazz part 1 so very much is mainly due to this song. It just gives off a great feeling and I love listening to it. It's also an exceptional song to fall asleep too, and I have done so many times.
Maybe it's just is that Yoko Kanno really is that good, but all her music just seems on a different level of anything else I've ever heard. Outstanding.

I'll have to agree with Jinchuu here. Call Me Call Me really sets the mood, and makes it really sad in that part.(How many times has Call Me Call Me been mentioned in the last day? ) Also in Mushroom Samba(episode 17) Where Ed goes to get food and that song is playing was really funny. But I don't know the name of the song.

That would be "Mushroom Hunting," Track 4 on OST 3 (Blue), with instrumentals not done by Seatbelts and vocals by Tulivu-Donna Cumberbatch (what a name ).

I've always had an affection for Empty Revolver from Trigun. It's just so cool, and has a real badass feel to it.

Eh? The opening is called "H.T." And I've never heard of "Empty Revolver," when was it played?

They play it when Vash spots wolfwood. It's the music on the DVD menu for the 3rd disc of trigun from Geneon.

I was just using a quick example. Ai no senshi is a wonderful battle song that just wants to make me dance, and Yoko Ishida is a good artist. Senyaicha is great mainly because it goes along with the mood of the event. It is also the 2nd intro to .hack//Liminality, which I thought was pretty cool. And, like stated above, anything by Yoko Kanno would fit my mood anyday.

Probably Amazing Grace from Steam Detectives... I absolutely love that version...
The first time I heard it I actually teared up... I can't remember the point in the anime when it occurs, but it was a pretty sad point of the show, and it all just hit at once.
I'm a piper, so I'm pretty partial to Amazing Grace anyway...

Ohhhh, Moon Revenge from the Sailor Moon R movie. That song is classic. Oh, I love hearing it every day. It's so upbeat and fast and fits my mood the best.
