Neat.
soooo are they airing it subtitled? I'd really prefer it if they weren't dubbed. |

I'm guessing since the DVDs are subbed, they will be. If they do air it on TV, which isn't really said in this PR, then they'll be subbed there as well :S Last edited by xScar on Tue Nov 30, 2010 10:06 pm; edited 1 time in total |

So, R1 anime companies, why haven't you followed these other companies in their footsteps? You have no excuse. -_-

Eh? FUNi has rights to the Noitamina block. They've said multiple times though that if people want DVD/BDs of them, they should support their simulcasts and that /is/ a factor if they will or will not put out physical media versions. FUNi doesn't have Trapeze right now, for whatever reason. So if that's what you're pointing at, then yes, they have no excuse |

Hooray! Siren Visual's really back in the business now. Great to see them bringing out more titles that are risky, and I hope it doesn't cause them financial problems.
I'll be picking up some of this stuff for sure. |

The whole section on noitaminA was written in the style of an advertisement rather than a neutral news piece. There is also no mention of the release platform for the titles. I would like to know whether these titles will be available on DVD, Blu-Ray, T.V., two of them or all three.
But whatever. Australia, and by extension New Zealand (where I of course live), are officially getting noitaminA material. The Tatami Galaxy was superb, and House of Five Leaves rewarded patience. Hopefully other titles, such as the upcoming Fractale, will be offered if these first two sell well or gain enough T.V. viewership. |

Actually, that title is MORE accurate than the original Japanese. This anime is based off a novel series. The second novel in the series (which is actually a collection of interconnected short stories) contains _5_ stories, the first of which is titled "Kuuchuu Buranko". As is often the case for books that are collections of short stories, the title for the collection is taken from the title for the first story. This collection went on the win a literary prize and get pretty well known. The title of the entire novel series is "Irabu the Psychiatrist". Now, the anime adapts all the short stories in the Kuuchuu Buranko book, as well as a number of other stories from the other books in the series (I think). So, calling it "Kuuchuu Buranko" makes marketing sense in Japan, because that's the title of the most famous of the books it was based on. But the more correct title is actually the title of the entire novel series, Irabu the Psychiatrist, or as they rewrote it to be more catchy: "Welcome to Irabu's Office " |

Streaming is great but the Noitamina block is first and foremost a televised block that gains fans thus gaining sales for its physical releases. Streams begetting DVD sales, good luck with that. Since luck is the new marketing plan. |

So the Aussies first got Mind Game and now they get Tatami Galaxy on DVD?
*Jealous* C'mon R1 companies. I'm dying to own some Yuasa: Tatami Galaxy, Kaiba, Mind Game, Kemonozume... please? |

I think the title of this press release is slightly deceptive. Since the email from Siren as well as the new article from their website only announces the dvd releases and doesn't talk about it getting on TV.

...because it's a press release, not a news article. |

Well that explains that. Could ANN in the future make it clear whenever an article is primarily a press release? That should help prevent further misunderstandings. It doesn't have to be anything complicated. Something like "Company X issued today the following press release on their recent acquisition Z" at the start of the article would be fine. On another note, I think ANN can and should do better than just copy-pasting press releases. For example, some (non-spin) background info wouldn't have gone amiss. |
