Well at least they found the fan donated stuff!

I guess the theives just wanted the $, and just grabbed the other stuff, but then felt the wrath that would ensue. So they dropped the stuff.

I wonder if they were more afraid of the wrath of the fans or from the Japanese police? Laughing

In any case, this is wonderful news. Hopefully Toyosato Elementary School will continue as an anime pilgrimage site for many years to come (though maybe with security cameras this time?).

As for the thieves, they still made away with quite a bit of money and caused a lot of trouble so I'm still hoping justice is served.

$3,500 was stolen... this is wonderful news how?

Also, it appears I was right when I said they were just after the money.

Probably because there was, even in an incomplete sense, recovery of items. The thieves could have kept everything; pawned it; burned it...
..and with the recovery, I'm sure, came evidence to who the thieves were.

I suppose they knew it'd be hard to sell the guitars after news got out, so they just took the money. I'm glad to see the items recovered, even if all that money's gone.

Why leave the crowbar? I'm guessing something spooked them so they just took whatever they could put in their pockets. I wonder what the condition of the guitars is. Cash is cash, but it sounds like the rest of the stuff was one of a kind.

I'm almost wondering if this might be a case of someone who hates the idea of people visiting the school just because the school in K-on is based off it, and took the money on the side because they're total dicks.

Maybe the thief just looked into the round, interchangable, market-tested faces of the characters, and his heart grew three sizes that day...

In other words, the items were emitting radiation, thus why they were discarded.

I think they knew they would get caught if they tried to pawn the items since it was in the news, money's harder to track down that a stole item that everyone is looking for being up for sale somewhere.

Sucks about the money not being recovered, but at least they got all those items back.

Hopefully they will install security cameras after something like this.

But it wasn't in the news until after they stole it. If they brought it back after the fact fearing they'd get caught then why bring back the crowbar and cash drawer? The only way it makes sense is if they ditched (literally) the stuff right after they stole it.

That's what I'm thinking. It would appear that they may have encountered potential witnesses during their getaway. In such a circumstance it would be prudent to take the cash (light, not bulky or awkward to carry) and dump everything else (heavy, bulky and awkward to carry) and then scram. This would help to explain the crowbar. One wonders if they were smart enough to wear gloves - if not, all that stuff would be a great source of fingerprints.

What? So the K-ON goods weren't good enough for you theives?! How insulting! Rolling Eyes

Shows that they were after the money but grabbed the other stuff out of impulse only to realize later that it would be too much trouble to try to sell those goods. I guess some people are just hard-up these days.

Plus not to mention that those items are one-of-a-kind stuff. People would notice right away if those guys tried to sell them off.

Sad news about the recovery of the stolen items.........I was getting my torches ready Anime cry.
