I wonder if I can get some people together who want to go...of course, 5 hours one way is not ideal

I'm so glad this is getting some more coverage! I live about ten minutes from the theater and I'm really looking forward to both.
One correction, though: Redline is showing on the 6th and Summer Wars on the 13th, rather than the other way around as the article states (at least, this is according to the film festival's own website: http://mspfilmfest.org/aff10/category/country/japan) |

In Japanese, with English subtitles, yes? I'd love to go, but I'd also love to understand the plot.

So pumped for Redline, bought my ticket as soon as I saw the news earlier today.
Summer Wars is good, but as I've already watched it, I don't have the pressing NEED to go see it too. |

Let's just say I'm pretty close with the people that put on this festival and run the theater, but,
It's rumored that after the festival St. Anthony Main Movie Theater might be getting both Evangellion 1.0 and 2.0 after the film fest. They're already connected with the Funimation distributor and they want to set up future showings. Cheers, I can't wait for this festival, Ip Man 2 and Redline and Summer Wars to boot. |

Just got back from "Redline"... I'm generally a slice-of-life, intellectually-oriented sort of guy (my favorite anime are things like "Haibane Renmei" and "Kino's Journey" and "Angel's Egg"), but I've got to say it: this dumb, loud, explosive, glorious bit of pulpy high-octane adrenaline fuel fried my brain into blissful submission. GOOD!
Also, I've talked to some of the people involved with St. Anthony Main, and they'd really like to do weekly anime showings if they can pull together some evidence that people would actually come to them. All you Twin Cities area anime clubs should let them know that you're in! |

Saw it last night as well, absolutely gorgeous throughout and an almost perfect slice of racing madness (the middle could have been a bit stronger). May have to import this, a sure thing if the JP blu-ray gets subs.
Also eager to see what St Anthony ends up doing, talking with the staff a little bit afterwards, the Evangelion movies sounded like a sure thing for them (though no idea when) among whatever other Funimation hookups they have lined up. Though they're a little out of the way for me, the only problem I'd have attending regular screenings would be my work schedule, hoping they go for mid-week screenings. |

Just like the next anime fan, I truly enjoy viewing a full-length feature anime presentation, so I am truly jealous of everyone in the Minnesota area. Thanks for the reviews, makes me want to see these two films even more now.
Does anyone know if any other theaters around the country will be showing these? I live outside of NYC and have been looking into all theaters, especially the smaller theaters to see if they are getting anything and so far I have come up empty handed.[/img] |

Funimation seems to be holding its cards close to its collective chest on this. Nowhere on their site can I find any information about upcoming screenings of Summer Wars, no schedule, nothing. To be honest, I haven't tried looking in about a week now, but you'd think if they were to release a schedule they'd also issue a press release that would show up here. |
