Venue, Date and Price Confirmed for Eirtakon 2010
Eirtakon 2010 is on track and ready to roll!
DUBLIN, IRELAND – April 12th, 2010 – The award-winning Eirtakon committee is proud to announce the venue, date and price for Eirtakon 2010, with Ireland's largest anime event reaching for ever greater heights as we roll into a new decade.
Eirtakon 2010 will take place in The Helix, one of the biggest convention spaces in the country and one of the few purpose-built for holding large events. The Helix is located on the Dublin City University campus, so not only will Eirtakon 2010 be the biggest yet, it's just around the corner from our previous venue at The Hub! It's also the same venue where Eirtakon recently scooped Best Event at at the Dublin City University Clubs & Societies Awards only last week.
With access to the first-class facilities offered only by The Helix, Eirtakon 2010 will have almost double the space of previous years! This means more traders, more events, more speakers, more exclusive anime screenings, more special guests and an even better experience at Ireland's biggest anime weekend!
As is tradition, this year's event will take place on the second weekend of November, from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th, and advanced pre-registration tickets will be on sale by late May for the special discount price of only €20. Of course, every pre-registration attendee is guaranteed an iconic Eirtakon t-shirt and a goody bag, which last year was filled with freebies and a once-off anime sampler DVD courtesy of MVM. Everyone who pre-registers will have their badges and other info posted out to them in advance of the weekend, ensuring they can get the best out of Eirtakon.
“Having just won Best Event at at the annual Dublin City University Clubs & Societies Awards, it's great to be able to make such a big announcement for Eirtakon 2010 so soon after,” said Stephen Fox, Eirtakon's director for 2010. “The Helix is a huge venue and we're hoping to really fill it out with a celebration of anime, manga, cosplay and everything Japanese. We have some really exciting news coming up soon for guests and we can't wait to tell everyone about it!”
Work is already well underway in making sure this year's event will be bigger than ever before and more enjoyable than ever. The committee is looking forward to announcing some very unique guests over the coming weeks, in addition to the biggest lineup of traders ever seen at an anime event in Ireland!
