Gōichi Suda's (SUDA51's) game developing studio Grasshopper Manufacture Inc. announced on Friday that Chinese developer NetEase Games has acquired the company from GungHo Online Entertainment. The transfer came into effect on May 31.
Suda added that Grasshopper Manufacture now has "a unique opportunity to rethink the game development and organization structure." The developer added that NetEase will be "mainly responsible for advising on our business planning activities and providing sufficient funding for game development," as well as quality assurance.
GungHo Online Entertainment acquired Grasshopper Manufacture in 2013.
Grasshopper Manufacture has developed nearly 30 titles in Japan and internationally since its founding in 1998. The company recently released the No More Heroes III game for the Switch on August 27.
