Animal Crossing Game Franchise Gets Manga in December

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Manga centers on protagonist on unpopulated island

The January 2020 issue of Shogakukan's Ciao magazine announced on Saturday that Nintendo's Animal Crossing (Dōbutsu no Mori) game franchise is inspiring a manga that will premiere in the magazine's February 2020 issue, which ships on December 28. The manga by artist Minori Katō is titled Atsumare Dōbutsu no Mori: Nonbiri Shima Dayori (Gather Animal's Forest: Carefree Island News).

The manga will follow a protagonist named Hana and her struggles on an unpopulated island.

Nintendo will release its Animal Crossing: New Horizons game on March 20, after a delay. The game was originally slated to launch last year.

The most recent main Animal Crossing game, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, shipped for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan in 2012 and in North America in 2013. Nintendo has since released the Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival board game-style Wii U game and the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer 3DS game. The Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp app game launched in November 2017.
