Midnight Diner/Shinya Shokudō New Season Trailer Reveals October 31 Debut

Netflix began streaming a trailer for the new season of the live-action series adaptation of Yarō Abe's Shinya Shokudō (The Midnight Diner or La Cantine de Minuit) manga on Friday. The trailer previews the series' characters and stories, and also reveals the series' October 31 debut date on Netflix.
The guest cast includes:
- Tooru Nakamura as Akai, a man who has been abandoned by his mother
- Kento Nagayama as Nagayama, and Ryo Katsuji as Kabayama, two old friends who reunite
- Joseph Chan as Lee, a Taiwanese director who lacks self confidence.
Other guest cast members include Akira Emoto and Tasuku Emoto,
Kaoru Kobayashi returns to reprise his role as Master. Jōji Matsuoka, Nobuhiro Yamashita, and Shōtarō Kobayashi return to direct the series.
Abe's manga centers on the proprietor of a small, mysterious cafeteria in Shinjuku and his customers. The cafeteria opens at midnight to fix customers any dish they request. The popular story has inspired multiple live-action television series and films and was nominated for the bookseller-selected Manga Taishō ("Cartoon Grand Prize") in 2009. The story was nominated for Angoulême's Best Comic Award and Audience Award in 2018.
