posted on by Egan Loo
An official manga adaptation of the live-action Fox television series Prison Break launched on the online Piccoma service on Sunday. Relative newcomer Hikosuke Soyama is drawing the manga of Season 1 under the supervision of Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation.
The suspense story is set in Fox River State Penitentiary, a maximum-security prison for the worst offenders. To rescue his older brother Lincoln (actor Dominic Purcell) who was framed for murder, Michael (Wentworth Miller) hatches an elaborate plan to enter and then break out of the prison.
The original television series premiered on the Fox channel in America in August 2005 and initially ran for four seasons. A fifth season, Prison Break: Resurrection, debuted a decade later in 2017, and a sixth season is in the works. In Japan, the series debuted on home video in 2006 before airing on television later that year. The fifth season streamed in Japan as it aired in the United States.
Another overseas live-action television series, BBC's Sherlock, received a manga adaptation that launched in 2012. Titan Comics is publishing the manga in English.
