Naruto Kabuki Play Reveals Visual for New Run in Kyoto

Play runs in historical theater in Kyoto from June 2-28

This year's 18th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed a new visual on Monday for the Kyoto run of the kabuki play adaptation of Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto manga.

The official website for the play began streaming a video for the new run on March 3.

The play will run at the the historical Minamiza Theatre in Kyoto from June 2-28.

The play first ran in Tokyo at the Shinbashi Enbujō theater from August 4-27. G2 wrote and directed the play. Wagakki Band (Samurai Warriors, Shingeki no Kyojin ~Hangeki no Noroshi~, Twin Star Exorcists) provided a song for the play.

Kishimoto launched Naruto in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, and ended the series in November 2014. The series has spawned multiple anime, anime film, OVA, and game adaptations. The Naruto Shippūden anime series ended in March 2017. The manga is inspiring a live-action Hollywood film at Lionsgate.

Ukyō Kodachi and Mikie Ikemoto launched the Boruto sequel manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in May 2016. The manga inspired a television anime series titled Boruto: Naruto Next Generations that premiered in April 2017, and is ongoing.

Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga has also inspired a kabuki play in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka in 2015 and 2016. The new run of the play ran in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya in 2017 and 2018.
