Cencoroll Connect Film Screening Unveils New Promo Video
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The official website for Cencoroll Connect, a special joint screening of director Atsuya Uki's first Cencoroll film short and Cencoroll 2 sequel, began streaming a new promotional video on Friday. (Note: The trailer video in the website is region-locked to Japan. A region-free version is embedded below.)
The Cencoroll Connect screening will open in six Japanese theaters on June 29. The artist ryo (supercell) is returning to compose the music.
The cast includes:
Hiro Shimono as Tetsu
Ryōhei Kimura as Shū
Satomi Moriya as Kei
Natsumi Takamori as Kaname, a girl who came to Tetsu's town to pursue Shū. She also controls creatures similar to Cenco
Kenji Akabane as Gotōda, a member of the mysterious organization supporting Kaname
Uki, Hanazawa, Kimura, and critic Ryōta Fujitsu (as emcee) will appear at an event at Aniplex's AnimeJapan 2019 booth on March 24.
The first Cencoroll theatrical anime short's story begins when a giant monster sends a town's citizens into a panic — except for a girl named Yuki and her schoolmate Tetsu. Tetsu happens to have his own strange creature named Cenco as a pet. Another boy named Shū controls the monster threatening the town, and the stage is set for a battle.
Uki (Digimon Adventure tri., tsuritama) directed, wrote, designed, and animated the first Cencoroll project himself, and it had its world premiere at Canada's Fantasia 2009 festival. It also played in Tokyo, Osaka, and New York at the New York Anime Film Festival. ryo from supercell composed the music.
The Cencoroll 2 sequel was slated to open in summer 2014, but the website had said until this year that it is still in production. Aniplex then teased a "relaunch of the Cencoroll project" in January.
