Square Enix announced on Saturday that Final Fantasy X character Yuna is joining the Dissidia Final Fantasy NT PlayStation 4 fighting game. She will join the game in December and is the fifth character in the game's season pass. The sixth and final new character will launch in February 2019.
Square Enix also revealed new background music and a new "Final Battlefield" stage for the game. Both will join the Japanese arcade version on November 15, and will join the PS4 version in mid-December. The new background music will feature both in original and arranged versions.
Square Enix additionally revealed that it will release a new free-to-play version of the PS4 game in Japan. The free version will not have story mode, but will include tutorial and online battle features. The version will have four playable characters to choose from that will change each week. The "Free Edition" will launch in Japan on November 22.
The PS4 game shipped in Japan on January 11, and in Europe and North America on January 30. The game previously added Vayne from Final Fantasy XII, Locke from Final Fantasy VI, Rinoa Heartilly from Final Fantasy VIII, and Kam'lanaut from Final Fantasy XI as DLC characters.
The Dissidia Final Fantasy arcade game launched in Japanese arcades in November 2015. The game features a 3 vs. 3 battle system, and also includes a summons gauge that players can use to summon Ifrit and other popular Final Fantasy summons when the gauge is full. Koei Tecmo Games' Team Ninja (Dead or Alive series) developed both the arcade game and the PS4 version.
