Grimms Echoes Smartphone Game's 2nd Promo Video Streamed

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Game related to Grimms Notes holds Android beta test this month

Square Enix began streaming the second promotional video for its Grimms Echoes smartphone game on Friday.

The game centers on characters who once had stories. In the stories, beautiful princesses were bound to princes, and brave heroes fought evil kings. The stories restored happiness to unfortunate children. However, the characters committed sins and lost their stories. Familiar yet unknown echoes they hear in their hearts serve as guideposts toward the worlds of their lost stories. They atone for their sins in the only way they can in order to regain what was lost.

Pre-registration for the game is available now. A closed beta test for Android will be held from November 19-26.

The game is related to Square Enix's Grimms Notes smartphone game. In the previous game, characters from classic fairy tales and stories, such as Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp, and Cinderella, appear in the original game. The game takes place in a world created by a beings known as "Story Tellers." At birth, all inhabitants of this world are bestowed with a "book of fate" where all their lives are written in advance. However, rogue Story Tellers known as Chaos Tellers are writing bad events into people's books without them knowing. It is up to the holders of blank books of fate to seek out the Chaos Tellers and restore the world.

The game launched for iOS and Android devices in Japan on January 21, 2016 and has since garnered more than 17 million downloads. The game is free to play with in-game item purchases. Square Enix released the Grimms Notes Repage major update for the game this past January.

Korean game publisher Flero Games released the game in South Korea, the United States, Canada, and 27 European countries including the United Kingdom, France, and Germany on March 2.

An anime adaptation of the Grimms Notes game will premiere on TBS and other networks in January. Seiki Sugawara (RIN-NE, D-Frag!) is directing the anime at Brains Base.
