Yen Press announced on Thursday that it will publish Masahiro Ikeno's Goblin Slayer: Brand New Day spinoff manga simultaneously with Japan.
The manga launched this Friday in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine.
SB Creative published the first volume of the Goblin Slayer dark fantasy novel series in February 2016, and Kōsuke Kurose (The IDOLM@STER Neue Green for Dearly Stars) launched an ongoing manga adaptation in Big Gangan in May 2016. Kento Eida is serializing a manga spinoff titled Goblin Slayer Side Story: Year One in Young Gangan magazine. An anime adaptation will premiere this year.
The series centers on a man who desires to become an "adventurer," but insists on only killing goblins. The story begins with a female priest who has just joined a party, but quickly gets in trouble. She is saved by the man known as the "Goblin Slayer," a man who is ranked Gold (third highest) in his local guild in subduing goblins. In the story, he says, "I won't save the world, I just kill goblins." After hearing rumors about him, a female elf approaches him with a request.
Yen Press has licensed the novels and both Kurose and Eida's manga. The company is also publishing both the main manga and Year One simultaneously with Japan.
