posted on by Jennifer Sherman
ForwardWorks announced on Monday that it will release the new Wild Arms Million Memories smartphone role-playing game for iOS and Android devices this year. Under Wild Arms game series designer Akifumi Kaneko's supervision, characters from previous games will reappear in the "completely new" smartphone game with a new story.
Rin Akatsuki is performing the theme song "Million Memories" for the game, and a short version of the song is available for listening on the game's official website. Sony Music Labels will release song's single on May 16.
The original Wild Arms game shipped for PlayStation in 1996. The franchise's most recent game, Wild Arms XF, shipped for PlayStation Portable in 2007. The franchise received a television anime adaptation, titled Wild Arms - Twilight Venom, in 1999. Wakako Oba launched the Wild Arms Hananusubito (Wild Arms - Flower Thieves) manga adaptation of the games in 2001.
The games combine fantasy with the Wild West setting. The original game takes place in the land of Filgaia, which used to be fertile and green and protected by guardian beasts until it was invaded by demons with metal bodies. Three warriors living in the wasteland that remains hear the call of the guardians and set out to save the world.
