A Place Further Than the Universe Anime's 2nd Promo Video Previews Saya's Insert Song

The official website for the original A Place Further Than the Universe (Sora Yorimo Tōi Basho) television anime began streaming the show's second promotional video on Thursday. The video previews SAYA's insert song "Uchū wo Miagete" (Look Up at the Universe).
The anime will premiere on AT-X on January 2 at 8:30 p.m., on Tokyo MX at 11:00 p.m., and on BS11 at 11:30 p.m. The anime will debut on MBS on January 9 late at night at 3:00 a.m. (effectively January 10). The anime will also be available through various streaming services in Japan, and the first episode will stream in advance on d Anime Store (Docomo Anime Store) on December 28, on Niconico Live from December 29, and on AbemaTV from December 30. Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs in Japan.
The anime stars:
Inori Minase as Mari Tamaki, a second-year high school student a sunny disposition. Although she has a great attitude and is admired by her friends, she is not good at finding a place in their midst or
being a leader. In spite of being filled with curiosity, she is also rather cowardly and timid. She is troubled by the dilemma that although part of her wants to do things, another part of her just ends up not doing them. Her nickname is "Kimari."
Kana Hanazawa as Shirase Kobuchizawa, a second-year high school student who attends the same school as Kimari. She is a black-haired beauty that turns heads, but she is shy and not good at conversation.
When she actually does speak, she can't help but say rather nasty things, which leads to misunderstandings. She has few friends and is treated as an oddball at school. At school, she is secretly called "Antarctica."
Yuka Iguchi as Hinata Miyake, a girl brimming with curiosity and always looking for fun things to do.
She is very friendly and can get along well with everyone. Since childhood, she has been a leader who has always willingly taken on roles of responsibility, such as class committee and club leader. However, she quit high school because of something that happened and is now working part-time at a convenience store.
Saori Hayami as Yuzuki Shiraishi, a girl who is one grade lower than Kimari and the others. She lives in Hokkaido. She has been an actress since childhood, and she now works as an entertainer while attending high school. She shows maturity and is a good speaker with has polite manners. She is concerned that because of always working, she is unable to make close friends.
Mamiko Noto as Gin Tōdō, the commander of the civilian Antarctic exploration group Antarctic Challenge. Gin was an acquaintance of Shirase's mother in high school, and she joined the exploration party after Shirase's mother previously encouraged her. She was also a member of the exploration group in which Shirase's mother went missing three years ago. Because of that, she has a sense of responsibility. She relies on leadership skills but sometimes becomes taciturn and uses few words, leading to misunderstandings.
Yōko Hikasa as Kanae Maekawa, the deputy commander under Gin. She got to know Shirase's mother and Gin as part of the previous Antarctic exploration group. She formerly worked for a company. Kanae turns her head quickly, talks a lot, and is very popular with men. She handles all discussions for Gin who doesn't talk much, and there is gossip that she is the commanding officer behind the scenes.
Lynn as Yumiko Samejima, the head cook for the Antarctic exploration group. She is a lively and spirited woman who is resilient in the cold despite being from Okinawa. As a mentor to Kimari and her friends, she teaches them things and becomes someone they can always talk to.
Hisako Kanemoto as Megumi Takahashi, Kimari's close friend since kindergarten. She's not good at girly things. She can see things with a somewhat cool perspective, and she doesn't get overly excited about anything. Watching Kimari become enthusiastic about going to Antarctica, she secretly becomes jealous.
Kaede Hondo as Rin Tamaki, Kimari's younger sister. She is a level-headed person who who looks after her older sister and is good at taking care of people. She is class representative at school. Although she is worried about her sister going to Antarctica, she supports her from the bottom of her heart.
Sayaka Ōhara as Tamiko Shiraishi, Yuzuki's mother. She is also Yuzuki's manager and is in charge of her work. She is a "stage mom" who always wanted Yuzuki to become a performer since the girl was born. She does her best to make Yuzuki famous.
Voice actresses Inori Minase, Kana Hanazawa, Yuka Iguchi, and Saori Hayami will perform the ending theme song "Koko kara, Koko kara" (From Here, From Here) as their characters. The song's single will ship on February 21.
The project is reuniting the staff from No Game, No Life: Atsuko Ishizuka is directing the series, and Jukki Hanada is in charge of series composition and writing the script. Takahiro Yoshimatsu (Hunter × Hunter 2011, Trigun) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director. Kenji Nakamoto is producing, and Madhouse is animating the series. Yoshiaki Fujisawa is composing the music.
The anime's story centers on high school girls going to the South Pole, "a place further than the universe." They struggle and grow together as they cope with extreme conditions.
Nene Yoimachi will launch a manga adaptation of the anime in the February 2018 issue of Kadokawa's Comic Alive magazine on December 27.
