King of Prism: Pride the Hero Anime Film Gets Stage Play

An official website opened on Monday to announce that the King of Prism: PRIDE the HERO anime film is inspiring a stage play. The play, titled King of Prism -Over the Sunshine!-, will run at Umeda Arts Theater Drama City in Osaka on November 2-5 and at AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo on November 8-12.
The cast includes:
- Shōhei Hashimoto as Shin Ichijō
- Kōji Kominami as Kōji Mihama
- Taishi Sugie as Hiro Hayami
- Takuto Ōmi as Kazuki nishina
- Shōjirō Yokoi as Yukinojō Tachibana
- Ryōki Nagae as Taiga Kōgami
- Yoshiki Murakami as Kakeru Jūōin
- Masashi Igarashi as Minato Takahashi
- Yuzuki Hoshimoto as Leo Saionji
- Ryōta Hirono as Yū Suzuno
Masashi Igarashi is reprising his role from the anime films.
Masanari Ujikawa is directing the play. Jou Aoba is returning from the anime film to write the script, and Rei Ishizuka is returning to compose the music.
King of Prism: PRIDE the HERO opened on June 10 and sold 47,000 tickets to earn 82 million yen (about US$746,000) in its opening weekend. The anime debuted at #7 at the box office and fell off the top 10 box office chart in its second weekend. As of July 5, the film has earned more than 300 million yen at the box office.
The film will get 4DX screenings at 52 Japanese theaters beginning on August 26. The film will open in Hong Kong on the same day, and then in Taiwan on September 1.
Masakazu Hishida, who directed various Pretty Rhythm anime series, as well as the KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm film, returned to direct King of Prism: PRIDE the HERO at Tatsunoko Production. Jou Aoba (Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream episode director) also returned to write the script. Mai Matsuura was again credited with the original character designs and character designs. The main cast members reprise their roles in the film, and Tomokazu Sugita plays the new character George Takadanobaba.
