Kodansha Comics announced at its Anime Expo panel on Saturday that it has licensed Kuro's manga adaptation of Yuu Kamiya and Tsubaki Himana's Clockwork Planet novels.
The action fantasy is set in a world that was destroyed and then entirely rebuilt with clockwork mechanism. A first-year high school boy named Naoto Miura unexpectedly encounters an automata girl.
Kamiya and Himana launched the novel series with illustrations by Shino (Sunday Without God, Lance N' Masques) in 2013, and Kodansha published the fourth volume on December 29. Kuro has been drawing a manga adaptation in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine since 2013, and Kodansha published the fifth volume in March.
Kamiya also wrote the No Game, No Life light novel series and drew the illustrations in A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives light novel series.
An anime adaptation of Clockwork Planet has been greenlit.
