King of Prism by PrettyRhythm Anime Film Tops BD/DVD Ranking

The KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm anime film's Japanese Blu-ray Disc and DVD releases both ranked #1 in their respective Oricon's weekly animation ranking, with the Blu-ray Disc release selling 13,244 copies, and the DVD release selling about 5,000 copies, both for the week of June 13-19.
Before KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm, the franchise's highest ranking DVD was the Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live television anime's second DVD volume, which ranked at #40 in the overall ranking in June 2014. The franchise's highest ranking Blu-ray was the Pretty Rhythm PRISM SHOW☆FAN DISC, which ranked #23 in the overall ranking in March. This is the first time the franchise has had both a Blu-ray Disc and DVD rank #1 in the animation category at the same time.
The home video releases shipped on June 17. Video extras include a new short anime, a collection of the teasers and promotional videos, footage of the opening-day stage greetings, and the footage shown in theaters before the film. he first-print limited edition comes with a booklet and mini-storyboard collection.
The KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm film began its theatrical run in 14 theaters on January 9, and went down to nine theaters in its second week. However, as word of mouth grew (particularly on social networking services), its screenings expanded to over 60 theaters. The film topped 300 million yen (US$2.2 million) as of March 15, and topped 500 million yen (about US$4.59 million) and 300,000 tickets sold as of April 18.
The film's continuing theatrical run added 4DX screenings in 26 theaters on June 18, with more theaters planned.
Masakazu Hishida (various Pretty Rhythm TV anime series) directed the film at Tatsunoko Production with a script by Jou Aoba (Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream storyboard). Yoshihiro Otobe (Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live) is the CG director, and Mai Matsuura (Pretty Rhythm All Star Selection) is credited with the original character plan and design. TAKARA TOMY A.R.T.S and syn Sophia are credited with the original work, and Avex Pictures is distributing the film.
