BS11 Channel Launches Anime Division

Channel currently airs over 30 anime shows

Satellite broadcasting station BS11 launched a new anime division as part of the June 1 reorganization of the company. The company's "Marketing Bureau Content Division" has been renamed to the "Marketing Bureau Anime Division." Katsuyuki Uchida, the company's current marketing director and content manager, will head the new anime division.

BS11 was founded in 1999, and reaches 40 million households in Japan with its simultaneous broadcast. The channel focuses on anime and news programs, but also broadcasts live-action dramas, films, education, and sports shows as part of its linear programming. The channel has dedicated more time to broadcasting late-night anime in recent years, and currently airs over 30 anime shows.

In its earnings report for the second quarter of the fiscal year of 2015 (August 2015), the company posted a net income of 8.865 billion yen (about US$83 million, a 12.7 percent increase from the same period in 2014), as well as an operating profit of 1.96 billion yen (about US$18 million, a 15.8 percent increase from the same period in 2014). BS11 also projects increases in its financial numbers in the second quarter of the current fiscal year.

Currently, the anime is airing or re-running the Kiznaiver, High School Fleet, Mysterious Joker Season 3, Dokidoki! Precure, Mobile Suit Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Bakuon!, Kumamiko - Girl meets Bear, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal, Macross Delta, Concrete Revolutio: The Last Song, Tales of the Abyss, Tonkatsu DJ Agetarō, Terraformars Revenge, Ninja Slayer From Animation, Bungo Stray Dogs, Classroom Crisis, Super Lovers, Big Order, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, Kuromukuro, Joker Game, The Asterisk War, Three Leaves, Three Colors, Rainbow Days, Ponkotsu Quest, and Luck and Logic anime series, as well as the Ultra Super Anime Time programming block, which includes the Space Patrol Luluco, Kagewani, and PUCHIM@S anime shows.
