A manga spinoff of Genki Kawamura's Tinny - Fūsen Inu Monogatari (Tinny - Balloon Dog Story) picture book launched in Magazine House's CasaBRUTUS magazine on January 9. The manga is titled Fūsen Kyōryū-hen (Balloon Dinosaur), and will portray protagonist Tinny exploring the world of balloon dinosaurs.
Magazine House's Hanako Mama magazine, which is distributed to nursery schools, will also begin serializing a series featuring a costumed Tinny.
The book has previously been adapted into a two-season television anime series titled Fūsen Inu Tinny (Balloon Dog Tinny). The first season premiered on NHK in September 2014 with 26 episodes. The second season premiered last September, and is currently airing on NHK.
Former Pixar art directors Daisuke "Dice" Tatsumi and Robert Kondo ("The Dam Keeper") are also adapting Kawamura's Moom picture book. Marza Animation Planet and Hakuhodo's in-house animation studio Craftar are collaborating to produce the project, with a planned release this year.
