Toei Europe: 2nd Half of Sailor Moon Crystal to Air in Japan this Summer (Updated)
posted on by Karen Ressler
Toei Animation Europe mentioned in a news article on Friday that a second season of Sailor Moon Crystal is in the works, and will premiere this summer in Japan.
The anime premiered last July, with new episodes streaming on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The series was slated to run for 26 episodes. The series is streaming on Niconico, Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Neon Alley.
Update: The news post read "second season," not "second series." However, the same post referred to the "first season" of Sailor Moon Crystal as having 26 episodes. Toei Europe did not say if the "second season" it was referring to is the television broadcast of the second 13 episodes of the original series (currently streaming) or a brand new season. Toei did not respond to ANN's requests for clarification.
Update 2: Toei Animation has now confirmed with ANN that the "second season" Toei Europe mentioned in April is the television broadcast of the second half of the original series (the Black Moon arc), which premiered on TV in Japan this month. Thanks, Anime Herald.
