Alex Roe, Aimee Teegarden Joins Hollywood's Rings Sequel
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Actors Alex Roe and Aimeé Teegarden joined the cast of F. Javier Gutiérrez's Rings live-action horror film. Roe (The 5th Wave) will play the male lead Holt opposite Matilda Lutz (Somewhere Beautiful, The Fifth Wheel). Teegarden (Friday Night Lights, Aim High television series) is co-starring. The film began shooting in Atlanta this week.
Rings is a sequel to The Ring and will take place 13 years later. Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald (The Ring, The Ring Two) are producing the film. David Loucka, Jacob Aaron Estes, and Akiva Goldsman wrote the script.
Guterrez shared pictures from the set:
The first Hollywood film of The Ring premiered in 2002. Hideo Nakata, the director of the original 1998 Japanese Ringu, directed The Ring Two, a Hollywood sequel that debuted in 2005.
Sadako 3D 2, which premiered in Japan in August 2013, was the latest film in the Ring (Ringu) series in Japan. In the films, Sadako is the vengeful ghost of the daughter of a famous psychic. She is connected to a cursed video tape featuring a collection of disturbing images; those who watch the tape are killed one week later. Kōji Suzuki, the author of the original novel series that inspired the franchise, wrote a new original story for that film.
Rings is slated to open on November 13.
