Hajime No Ippo: The Fighting Game Has Unlockable Versus Mode
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Bandai Namco Games' Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting PlayStation 3 game has several different playable modes, but noticeably lacks the option to spar against your friends one-on-one. A Versus mode is available, it is just that developers hid it unless players enter the right code.
Players need to first highlight (but not select) Watching Mode, then press L1, R1, left on the D-pad, right on the D-pad, square, and circle.
The second player will find that the mode is not exactly fair. The camera still stays behind Player 1 and the game allows the first player to select both parties' skills.
The game will feature many familiar boxers from George Morikawa's manga, and will recreate some of the manga's most famous scenes with a full voice cast. As players progress through the game, they will be able to unlock scenes that weren't in the original manga. The game's central story will revolve around IPPO Makunouchi (played by Kohei Kiyasu) and Ichirō Miyata (played by Tomokazu Seki). However, the player can play as one of approximately 20 boxers.
The game will ship in Japan on December 11 for the price of 7,600 yen (about US$76), and first copies will come bundled with a product code to download four new costumes: a down-hair version for Takamura, an electric battery hair version for Kimura, a Block Man version for Aoki, and finally, a long-haired version for Date. A patch to fix the game's loading times and other bugs will launch on December 10.
