The sentence marks the first time a defendant in Russia has received jail for the crime.
The defendant, a male Volgograd resident, was accused of uploading six volumes of anime onto a social networking site and making them available for download from December 5, 2010 to July 22, 2013. The anime in question included minors ages 14 through 18 in sexual situations.
