Tokyo Purin Singer Takashi Makino Passes Away

Takashi Makino of the singing duo Tokyo Purin passed away due to respiratory failure from lung cancer early on Friday morning, February 7. He was 49.
Makino was diagnosed with lung cancer in June 2010, and he revealed his condition during a live appearance on the Sendai Television variety program Ara Ara Kashiko a month later. His last blog entry was on February 5 when he talked about his painful coughing.
Makino began working as a radio DJ, television reporter, and personality mainly on Osaka in 1990. He and Yōksuke Itō formed Tokyo Purin and made their debut in 1997 with the song "Keitai Aika" (Mobile Elegy). The duo performed theme songs for anime shows such as Doraemon and Tantei Shōnen Kageman.
