Pokémon Bank App Released in Europe
posted on by Egan Loo
Nintendo released its Pokémon Bank app in Europe and other regions, but not in North America, on Tuesday. The cloud storage service allows players to store a total of 3,000 Pokémon in 100 storage boxes. The service is able to store Pokémon from the Pokémon Black/White, Pokémon Black 2/White 2, Pokémon X/Y, and future Pokémon series games via the Internet. Pokémon Bank includes various search functions and enable players to transfer many Pokémon simultaneously without using two game systems.
Nintendo launched the app in Japan on December 25, but removed it from the eShop when high traffic volume began straining the company's servers and affecting its 3DS and Wii U platforms. It eventually restored the service in Japan and "certain Asian countries" last month.
The North American launch was delayed as a result of the network and server issues. Pokémon Bank will be available for an annual fee of US$4.99 to "ensure that the service stays running worry-free for all of its users."
