Latest in fighting game franchise to ship on March 20 with bundled anime

Koei Tecmo Games streamed the first promotional video on Friday for the Sengoku Musou 4 (Samurai Warriors 4) PlayStation 3 and PS Vita game at its "Sengoku Musou 10th Anniversary Presentation" event on Friday.

The video previews the game's main cast (historical names are written family name first):

Daisuke Ono as Sanada Nobuyuki
Satoshi Hino as Ōtani Yoshitsugu
Kouji Ishii as Matsunaga Hisahide
Satomi Satou as Hayakawa-dono
Hiroshi Okamoto as Kobayakawa Takakage

The event also announced on Friday that an anime adaptation and a new manga adaptation of the games have been green-lit. The Sengoku Musou SP Sanada no Shō (Samurai Warriors Special: Sanada's Chapter) anime will premiere this March, and the manga will run in the March issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine (ships on February 6), the spinoff publication Monthly Shonen Magazine+ (February 20), and the May issue of Monthly Shonen Magazine (April 5). Seijirō Narumi (Seisen Cerberus: Mō Hitori no Eiyū) is drawing the manga.

A Blu-ray Disc of the anime and an anime cel card will also be bundled in the 9,800-yen (about US$98) premium box for the PS3 version of the game when it ships (after a delay) on March 20, 2014. There will also be a 12,800-yen (US$128) "Sengoku Musou 4 Treasure Box" with the game, the anime, anime cel card, an original soundtrack CD, a character design collection, and 15 exclusive postcards. Those who pre-order the game will receive an original micro-fiber towel, and first editions of the game will include a download code for a costume for Sanada Yukimura from the original Sengoku Musou game.

Koei Tecmo Games is also streaming a 10th anniversary retrospective video. The video shows footage from all Sengoku Musou games, from the first game for the PlayStation 2 in 2004 to the most recent game, Sengoku Musou Chronicle 2nd for the Nintendo 3DS, which shipped in October 2012.

Koei Tecmo Games has also opened a commemorative website for the franchise's 10th anniversary.
