North American licensing company Media Blasters announced on Thursday that it will release the Ultimate Girls television anime series on DVD. Media Blasters did not provide any further details regarding the release.
The original 12-episode series aired in Japan in 2005. Yuji Mutoh (Corrector Yui, several Crayon Shin-chan films) directed the series at Studio Matrix, and Satoru Nishizono (Digimon Adventure, Duel Masters, Samurai Bride) handled the series composition. The series follows Silk and her two friends, who are accidentally crushed to death during a monster attack by the city's protector UFO-Man. UFO-Man brings the girls back to life with his power but now they must also act as the city's protectors. The series stars Ai Tokunaga as Tsubomi Moroboshi, Hitomi Nabatame as Vivienne Ohtori, Misato Fukuen as Silk Koharuno, and Tohru Furuya as UFO-Man.
