OniAi's Ibuki Kido Cast as Heroine in Pupa Anime
posted on by Karen Ressler
The Monthly Comic Earth Star magazine revealed via Twitter on Friday that 15-year-old Ibuki Kido will be playing the lead female role in the upcoming anime adaptation of Sayaka Mogi's horror manga Pupa. Kido previously played Kasumi in GJ Club, and played Akiko and performed the theme song for OniAi.
Pupa's "life-and-death sibling" story follows Utsutsu and Yume Hasegawa, a boy and his little sister who find themselves all alone. One day, Yume sees a mysterious red butterfly and her body undergoes a strange metamorphosis — into a creature that eats humans. Utsutsu struggles to find a way to restore his sister.
Tomomi Mochizuki (House of Five Leaves, Ocean Waves, Here Is Greenwood, Twin Spica) is directing the anime at Studio DEEN (When They Cry - Higurashi, Rozen Maiden, Hetalia). The anime will premiere on television this fall.
