'Kick-Heart' Screened in Los Angeles Theater This Weekend
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Masaaki Yuasa's Kick-Heart anime short film is screening at Laemmle's Royale Theatre in Los Angeles starting today. The film will screen at 1:00 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. PDT on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
To qualify for consideration in the 86th Academy Awards, a short must play in a commercial movie theater in Los Angeles County at least twice a day for three straight days before September 30, 2013.
Additionally, the screening must be held before the film is distributed digitally or on home video. Production I.G had announced on Tuesday that the film will be distributed digitally to backers on Monday, and the physical rewards will ship out next week.
The short premiered in Tokyo in May, and then was shown in competition at this year's annecy in France in June. The film was also screened at Anime Expo earlier this month, and will also screen at Montreal's Fantasia International Film Festival later this month.
