Shōjo Idol Manga Nijiiro Prism Girl Gets DVD Anime
posted on by Egan Loo
The August issue of Shogakukan's shōjo magazine Ciao announced on Wednesday that there will be an anime adaptation of An Nakahara's idol manga Nijiiro Prism Girl (Rainbow-Colored Prism Girl). Arisa Nishiguchi will star as Nijika, an elementary school girl who strives to become an actress, while Ryota Ohsaka will play the popular actor Tōya Ichinose. Nijika's pet Kabi-tama will also appear in the anime.
The anime will be included on Ciao Ciao TV!, the bonus DVDs bundled with issues of Ciao. It will launch in the next issue of Ciao on August 3. The real-life idol unit "2&" performs "Dream," the theme song specifically created for this anime. Like the manga and anime, the theme song is about chasing your dreams.
Nakahara launched the manga in Ciao in 2010, and Shogakukan published the sixth compiled book volume this week. The story centers on the daughter of a talent agency president. She has beauty, athleticism, and everything else she needs to be an actress — except she initially despises the entertainment world.
Nakahara's Kirarin Revolution magical girl idol manga inspired a television anime.
