Yahoo Auctions Japan to Restrict Adult Items

Japan's Yahoo! Auctions website announced on Thursday that it will change its policies regarding auctions of adult items. The website will prohibit the auctioning of items that it deems are "vulgar or obscene," such as inappropriate depictions of children that appear to be under the age of 18. This rule will apply to products including manga, anime, and figures.
The new policies will restrict items that Yahoo! Auctions believes may violate Japanese law such as uncensored adult videos and child pornography. Items that the website believes promote "antisocial" activities such as rape and voyeurism will be banned. The website will also prohibit the auctioning of used clothing items such as underwear, bloomers, school swimsuits, and school uniforms.
Yahoo! Auctions reserves the right to remove items that it deems violate these policies after they go into effect on June 26. The website noted that it will deal with violations severely and may restrict the usage of user IDs associated with violations.
