To start off with some Australian news, Siren Visual has licensed Naoki Urasawa's Monster. They plan to release the 74 episode series from November broken into five volumes, the release will be on DVD with both Japanese and English dub soundtracks.
And on the topic of Monster, it turns out that director Guillermo del Toro has handed in his pilot script for the HBO live-action adaptation. The director has stated that Urasawa would only give the permission for the adaptation if he could review an outline of each episode of the first season. The series is planned to eventually cover the entire 18-volume manga story with no additional content.
SMASH will host Masakazu Morita, the voice of Ichigo from Bleach and Barnaby Brooks Jr. in Tiger & Bunny at this year's show in August. He will be joining Japanese band LOVERIN TAMBURIN and voice actor Haruko Momoi.
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU received some major announcements. The first announcement was that the anime adaptation will continue up to the end of the sixth volume of Wataru Watari's original light novel series. Also a anime only spin-off episode and a new original video anime episode have been green-lit alongside, both episodes will be written by Watari.
And finally, Kami Imai's Needless manga will conclude in the July issue of Shueisha's Ultra Jumpmagazine on June 19. The manga has been running since 2004, been collected into 15 volumes and adapted into a 24-episode anime series which has been released in Australia by Siren Visual.
