First off Australian announcements from Supanova Melbourne last weekend;
Madman Entertainment will be running Reel Anime 2013 and the first title announced was Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (the second title is 009 Re:Cyborg announced yesterday.)
Also announced last weekend was releasing Fate/Zero in a bilingual edition and finally Madman announced they will be releasing the english dub of Samurai Pizza Cats on DVD. Both titles release dates are unannounced.
Hanabee also snuck in an announcement with the special screening of Another. Another's release will be bilingual and both Blu-ray and DVD on the 3rd of July 2013.
One excellent piece of news for fans of Hiro Mashima's work, a anime adaptation of his crossover manga between Rave and Fairy Tail has been announced. In the crossover story, Fairy Tail's main character Natsu and Rave's main character Haru are lost, so Lucy and Elie —the heroines of both series — embark on a search for them. In addition, Mashima is drawing the original artwork for new sequences in the anime. The new sequences will add Musica and Let, two Rave characters who did not appear in the crossover manga. The special episode will be bundled on DVD with the 38th volume of Fairy Tail to be published on the 16th of August 2013.
Following on from his role in the Hollywood adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka's All You Need Is Kill, actor Tom Cruise has signed onto a adaptation of Chōhei Kambayashi's Yukikaze science-fiction novels. Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to adapt the story and it will also finance and distribute the project. 3 Arts' Erwin Stoff and Tom Lassally (All You Need Is Kill) are producing the film.
The official YouTube channel for Masaaki Yuasa's and Production I.G's "Kick-Heart" anime short film began streaming a 40-second video on Tuesday advertising the film's premiere event in Tokyo on May 26. Yuasa will premiere the film at a masked ball event at Roppongi's SuperDeluxe lounge in Tokyo. Sound director Oorutaichi will give a live performance at the premiere, and the film's animators will also host a live painting session. (There isn't much more I can add to this note but the 40-sec promo looks amazing).
And speaking of kick-ass animation, Studio Trigger has begun streaming it's 2013 Anime Mirai program, Little Witch Academia, online and complete with English subtitles. Director/character designer/animation director Yoh Yoshinari (episode director for Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt) and producer Naoko Tsutsumi (Black Rock Shooter, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt) led the project, and Michiru Ōshima (Fullmetal Alchemist, BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad, Blast of Tempest) scored the music.
And finally, anime director Shinichi Watanabe (Nabeshin) posted that he is recovering from his heart attack and is set to attend Anime Boston at the end of May.
