Crunchyroll to Stream Hakkenden: Tōhō Hakken Ibun TV Anime

The media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Thursday that it will stream the Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East (Hakkenden: Tōhō Hakken Ibun) television anime series. The site will premiere the series on Thursday, January 10 at 1:35pm EST for members in the United States, Canada, Central and South America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
The anime adapts Miyuki Abe's original manga that reimagines the setting from the classic Hakkenden samurai novel as a female-oriented story with supernatural elements. Osamu Yamasaki serves as the anime's chief director, while Mitsue Yamazaki is its director at Studio DEEN. Both Yamasaki and Yamazaki are in charge of the series scripts, while Hiromi Kato is designing the characters.
The series stars the voice cast members Tetsuya Kakihara as Shino Inuzuka, Satoshi Hino as Sōsuke Inukawa, Ayahi Takagaki as Hamaji, and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Murasame. Other cast members include Daisuke Namikawa, Hiroshi Kamiya, Shinichirō Miki, Jun'ichi Miyake, Takuma Terashima, and Tomoaki Maeno.
The series will premiere in Japan on January 5.
