Christina Hendricks, Aubrey Plaza, Anton Yelchin, Beau Bridges, others revealed; film to open in LA, NY on March 15

The entertaiment trade magazine Variety revealed more of the veteran actors and younger talent who voiced the English dub of Goro Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's From Up On Poppy Hill film on Friday. The main cast includes Gillian Anderson (X-Files, Princess Mononoke), Jamie Lee Curtis (A Fish Called Wanda, Freaky Friday), Bruce Dern (Silent Running, Coming Home), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men, Drive), Ron Howard (Happy Days, American Graffiti), Chris Noth (Sex in the City, The Good Wife), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac).

Sarah Bolger (BioShock 2, The Spiderwick Chronicles), Beau Bridges (The Fabulous Baker Boys), comedian Jeff Dunham, Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan, The Hunger Games), Emily Osment (Hannah Montana), Charles Saxton, and Alex Wolff (The Naked Brothers Band) round out the rest of the cast. Karey Kirkpatrick (The Rescuers Down Under, Chicken Run, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) wrote the English dub script, and Gary Rydstrom (sound designer on Finding Nemo, Brave) served as ADR Director.

North American distributor GKIDS acquired the rights to this film. GKIDS revealed on Thursday that, after an Oscar-qualifying run in Southern California later this year, it will release the film in Los Angeles and New York on March 15. "Big cities" will then receive the film in the following two weeks, and still more cities the week after. GKIDS will then release From Up On Poppy Hill on Blu-ray Disc and DVD.
